Procedure for Referral to the External Contract Psychiatrist of the Psychological Development Unit (PDU)

When you are in an active process in PDU, if necessary, your psychological counselor may refer you to the external contracted psychiatrist of the unit, from whom you can get support with an appropriate budget. In this case, your process is carried out in cooperation with the PDU and the psychiatrist. However, it is not possible for people who are not followed up in the unit to be referred to a psychiatrist or to be referred to a psychiatrist on their own request without expert opinion, even if they are being followed up in the unit.

If you think that you need psychiatric treatment support for a situation you are experiencing, you should first apply to the PDU. You can raise this need in the process and evaluate it with your psychological counselor. It is not enough to state that you need such a referral to an OzU contract psychiatrist. Your psychological counselor will guide you in cases where he/she predicts that you will benefit from the psychiatric treatment process in accordance with the expert opinion.

For referral, the contact information of the contracted psychiatrist and the information on how to make an appointment are shared with you by your psychological counselor. After the session, your counselor informs the contracted psychiatrist that he/she has directed you to him/her. Before you go to your psychiatrist appointment, you need to stop by the PDU's office located on the -3rd floor of the Student Center and hand over a signed document on your behalf stating that your referral has been made. It is mandatory for you to have this document with you when you go to your psychiatrist appointment. When you go to your appointment, submitting this document indicates that you have been referred from Özyeğin University. So, you can benefit from psychiatric support service within the fee policy applied for our institution. According to this fee policy, most of the appointment fee is covered by our university, and only a 50TL contribution fee is paid by our students. If you do not have the document with you during your appointment, it is assumed that you are not referred by our university and the psychiatric appointment fee is fully paid by you. Our university is not responsible for the appointment fees of our students who make psychiatrist sessions without contacting the PDU.

The support that our contracted psychiatrist can provide to you is limited to 8 appointments. It is the responsibility of our students to follow these appointments regularly. In order to get maximum efficiency from the process, it is important that you make and go to appointments regularly at intervals determined by the psychiatrist.
