Internship Procedure for the Undergraduate Psychology Program at Özyeğin University
You can contact psyinternship@ozyegin.edu.tr to send your internship documents and ask questions about the internship process.
The documents to be submitted before the internship must be done so at least 10 days before the start date of the internship.
The main purpose of the internships is to support and integrate the knowledge and skills students have gained during their undergraduate psychology studies with field experience and practice. The internship will give students the opportunity to build awareness, make observations, and put their theoretical knowledge into practice in the fields of research and application in psychology. Another goal of the internship is to equip students with professional experience in the respective field and develop their sense of responsibility. OzU Psychology Department students may complete either credit internships within the scope of PSY 300 Psychology Internship or non-credit (voluntary) internships. In both credit internships, which are completed as part of the PSY 300 Psychology Internship course, and non-credit internships completed on a voluntary basis, students’ social security premiums are covered by the University. Due to the applying legislation, this is not possible for the students who are employed within the ‘Part-Time On-Campus Work Program’; accordingly these students must end their part-time on-campus employment before starting their internships.
Credit Internships Completed Within the Scope of the PSY 300 Psychology Internship Course:
The PSY 300 Psychology Internship course is mandatory for psychology undergrad students whose catalog term is the 2019-2020 Fall semester or later. Students who entered the program earlier may also take PSY 300 as a psychology (program) elective course. The students may run a degree audit on SIS in order to find out their catalog term and to check whether internship is listed as a graduation area general requirement.
PSY 300 Psychology Internship course is graded as Successful / Unsuccessful as per the rules and regulations. The duration of the internship to be completed as part of this course is a minimum of 20 full business days. Students who are unable to complete 20 full business days of internships due to medical reasons must complete the number of missed days after their recovery. Before beginning their internships, students must have completed the “Psychology Internship Training”. This training has been prepared by the Psychology Department and can be taken entirely online via LMS-Next at will.
Students may register for the internship course either in the semester in which they plan to complete their internships or in the semester which follows the completion of their internships. Before they register the course, the students must send an email to the email address above and provide the institution where they plan to intern. Registration requests of students who haven’t done so won’t be approved. The internship course is offered in each of the three terms within the academic year (Fall, Spring, Summer) with multiple sections, and each section is offered by a different internship advisor. There is no summer term fee for the internship course. As part of their course requirements, students are required to keep an internship logbook over the course of their internships, and write an internship report at the end of their internships. Students registered for their internship course in the semester in which they will complete their internships must complete their internships and submit their internship report and internship logbooks to their internship advisors at least two weeks before the last day of classes for the respective semester based on the academic calendar, otherwise they will fail the course. For more information about the requirements of the internship course, and the procedures to complete before, during, and after the internship, please check the Internship Regulations. For the Internship Regulations and other internship documents, please click here.

There is no additional role played by the Psychology Department (such as the preparation of extra documents) for this type of internship other than what is done for all other internships. In order to learn about the annual opening and closing dates of this program the students are advised to follow the announcements of the ÖzÜ Professional Development.
Award Internships” for Academic Excellence
Students can benefit from only one award internship. Psychology Department students who will complete their award internships must choose either the internship at the French LAPE Hospital or an international internship abroad.
Psychology students who completed the PSY 301 Theories of Personality and Individual Differences and PSY 303 Adult Psychopathology courses with at least a 'C+' are ranked according to their GPAs and the highest ranked students can complete internships free of charge at the French LAPE Hospital according to the predetermined quota. The students who are eligible for the LAPE internship are determined only once during the academic year after the ‘Last Day for Submission of Incomplete Grades’ for the Fall term and before the course registrations of the Spring term. The students who qualify for the internship will receive a notification. The students who don’t qualify during that time won’t be considered eligible for the internship even if their GPA ranking changes at the end of the following Spring or Summer term. If a student graduates before the start of the LAPE internship, their right to the internship will be canceled. The students must have a good command of Turkish in order to participate in the LAPE internship. The LAPE Hospital award internship is offered only within the scope of the PSY 300 Psychology Internship course.
Students with a minimum grade point average of 3.50 out of 4.00 may also complete their internships at companies abroad, just like the students of other departments. For more information or to apply for international internships, contact ÖzÜ Professional Development.
