Abstract:
This research proposes a dual-mode coil structure for induction cookers using a single switching element quasi-resonant circuit and examines its effect on heating performance. In an induction cooker, the material base to be used for the heating process and the coil adaptation significantly affect the heating performance. Since the materials used are user-defined and vary, they may not always be suitable for traditional single-coil structures. The proposed dual coil structure works according to the base diameters of the material to be used and provides adaptation for different diameters. This adaptation optimizes the heat distribution on the coil, allowing the energy to be transferred more effectively. Effective energy transfer by minimizing losses improves the heating performance, making it faster and more efficient. At the same time, with this structure, the magnetic field created by the coil is applied to the material more effectively, reducing the voltage value affecting the switching element. This enables the use of a lower voltage value switching element in the quasi-resonant circuit, which is cheaper and easily controlled since it has a single switching element but is also exposed to high voltage values. The dual-mode coil structure proposed with the quasi-resonant circuit was verified by simulating with MATLAB, and its improvement in heating performance in the induction cooker was experimentally investigated.
