The Department of Communication Design aims to teach students the dynamics of communication by combining design principles, creative thinking, and new technological possibilities. This is a four-year undergraduate program that examines, both theoretically and practically, the most effective methods for communicating text, sound, and images through various media and technologies. Situated within the Faculty of Architecture and Design, this program is an excellent choice for students who wish to receive a design education.
The Department of Communication Design focuses on interactive environment design for different platforms and tools, digital publishing, spatial communication, game design, motion graphic design, art direction, and innovation management. Its academic scope includes fields such as graphic design, typography, photography, video, interactive interface design, augmented reality, virtual reality, multimedia applications, user experience, spatial interaction, motion imagery, and game design. It aims to provide students with experience in developing problem-solving methods to create compelling communication by considering user behavior.
Supported by Özyeğin University's vision of entrepreneurship and innovation, the program's content and curriculum also support other departments of the faculty through common areas. Graduates can design the architecture, interface, identity, interaction, and user experience of any digital environment, from web platforms to smart applications. In their professional lives, they can utilize media such as illustration, text, photography, video, and sound. They can produce films and design games.

Students:
- In their first year, learn the basic principles of design, acquire fundamental drawing and computer skills, and gain basic knowledge in photography and video media to carry out creative production.
- In the second year, gain experience in visual communication, graphic design, and typography through the design studio, and also learn about animation, information architecture and web design, and the history of art and design.
- In the third year, work on art direction, interaction design, motion imagery, and game design in the design studio. They take elective courses related to the subject they wish to specialize in.
- In the fourth year, work on one of the specialization areas of art direction, interaction design, motion imagery, or game design within the scope of the design studio and the final project taken in the last term. Additionally, they take courses in design and innovation management, strategy development, and elective courses related to the subject they want to specialize in.


With the infrastructure they acquire in a minimum of 8 semesters, graduates can work in the following areas and roles:
- Manager and art director in next-generation agencies,
- Interaction designer for institutions that use experimental, interactive environments, and spaces like museums and galleries,
- Creative director at different stages of film production in film and post-production studios,
- Project manager and game designer in companies working in the field of game design,
- Content producer in production agencies and corporate firms producing static and dynamic media for all communication platforms.

In addition to professional design practice, those who wish to conduct in-depth research in one of the broad application fields of Communication Design and generate knowledge in this field can also start their careers as academics in a master's program.
