Asst. Prof. Dr. Levent Emre Özgüç graduated from Istanbul (Erkek) High School in 2011 and Koç University Faculty of Law in 2015. He completed the Master of Laws Programme at Koç University Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities by defending his thesis on "The Crime of Intentional Pollution of the Environment within the Framework of the Turkish Criminal Code No. 5237". In 2018, he received the title of Master of Philosophy in Criminological Research from University of Cambridge Institute of Criminology with his thesis entitled "Deterrence in Driving Offences: An Analysis of the Effectiveness of Turkish Law in Drink-Driving and Speed Limit Violations" and a degree of “Distinction”. He obtained his Doctorate in Public Law with his thesis on "Determination and Punishability of Preparatory Acts in Turkish Criminal Law" from Koç University Graduate School of Social Sciences and Humanities. Between 2022 and 2023, he was a Visiting Researcher at the Institute of Crime Policy (Institüt für Kriminalpolitik) at University of Bremen. From January 2016 to August 2024, he worked as a research assistant at Koç University Faculty of Law. Since 2024, he has been working as an Assistant Professor of Criminal and Criminal Procedure Law at Özyeğin University Faculty of Law.
