Dr. Edemen was born in Istanbul. He has received B.Sc. degree from Marmara University and the Ph.D. degree from Işık University in Electronics Engineering. Dr. Edemen has been working on several research projects with a focus on information, communication theory and networks in wireless systems. In particular, he conducts research in information theoretic aspect of multi-user cooperative communication. Another field of recent interest to him is the field of optical communication. In particular, he is interested in the applications of Visible Light Communication. In addition to the theoretical studies above, he also had applied studies which focused on new generation mobile technology, namely WIMAX/WIMAGIC and LTE advanced in two pioneer Turkish mobile network operators, Turkcell and Avea. The main objective of these projects were to make contributions to the standards IEEE 802.16m and 3GPP LTE. Dr. Edemen was awarded the IEEE WCNC 2008 Best Paper Award for his work titled ” Achievable Rates for the Three User Cooperative Multiple Access Channel”.
