Biography

Dr. Beyza Şat obtained her B.Sc. at the top of her class from Istanbul University, Landscape Architecture Department in 1999, then she orderly obtained her M.Sc. in 2002 and Ph.D. in 2009 from the Landscape Architecture Program of Science Institute of Istanbul University.

Landscape analysis, landscape planning, and ecological planning subjects are her professional fields. Over twenty years, she has taught on ecology and sustainability-related issues both in state and private universities. She had expertise in plant material, sustainable landscape design, and conservation planning.  She had been the founder of the landscape architecture department of the Architecture Faculty of Thrace University in Edirne. She worked at Toledo University, (U.S.) as a visiting scholar in 2014 with a proposal of her titled “The Relation Between Environmental Protection Consciousness and Plant Identification in Urban Parks”.

She is a board member of the Chamber of Landscape Architects of Turkey TMMOB, IALE (International Association of Landscape Ecology), and has been working as an associate editor in a prestigious Springer Open, Ecological Processes journal since 2017. She is interested in folk dances and attended international festivals (festival awards in 1993 in Poland; in 1994, in Spain, Sevilla).
