Autobiographical memory processes, memory for public events, self-memory relationship, and memory processes in psychopathology

Dr. Tekcan received his BA in Psychology from Boğaziçi University (1989) and his MA and PhD from The American University in Washington, DC. He was a faculty member at Boğaziçi University, Psychology Department between 1998 and 2024. During his time at Boğaziçi University, he served as
Head of Department (2010-2012, 2022-2023), Dean of Students (2004-2006), and Provost (2012-2021). He was a visiting researcher at Leeds University (2008-2009) and at Aarhus University (2010, 2018).

He received the Distinguished Young Scientist Award by the Turkish Academy of Sciences (2001), Outstanding Researcher Award (2000) and Outstanding Teaching Award (2020), both given by the Boğaziçi University Foundation. His main research interests are autobiographical memory processes, memory for public events, self-memory relationship, and memory processes in
psychopathology.
