Özyeğin University Named Best Foundation University in “GreenMetric World University Rankings” For the Sixth Consecutive Time

Özyeğin University placed first among foundation universities in Türkiye for the sixth consecutive time since 2019 in the 2024 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which assess universities all over the world based on their sustainability initiatives and the extent of green spaces within their campuses. Out of 1,477 universities included in this year’s rankings worldwide, our University earned the distinction of being the world’s 82nd most sustainable university in the overall rankings.

Launched in 2010, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings rank universities by their commitment and action towards going green and environmental sustainability across 6 criteria, including Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED). Each higher education institution is scored separately for each category and ranked globally. The rankings are open to all higher education institutions worldwide. In 2024, 1,477 universities from 95 countries participated in the rankings, with 120 universities from Türkiye. Özyeğin University secured 82nd place among 1,477 universities worldwide, marking its distinction as the youngest foundation university in Türkiye to break into the prestigious top 100 in this ranking.
