Prof. H. Canan Sümer, Prof. Burcu Balçık, and Prof. Ali İzzet Tekcan Elected as Full Members of the Science Academy

Prof. H. Canan Sümer, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences and faculty member in the Psychology Program at Özyeğin University, Prof. Burcu Balçık, faculty member in the Industrial Engineering Program and Academic Director of the Sustainability Platform at Özyeğin University, and Prof. Ali İ. Tekcan, faculty member in the Psychology Program at Özyeğin University, have been elected as full members of the Science Academy. These distinguished academicians are among the 13 new full members selected during the General Assembly of the Science Academy on November 30, 2024.

In previous years, several other Özyeğin University faculty members have also earned this prestigious recognition, including Prof. Ethem Alpaydın, faculty member in the Computer Science Department; Prof. Murat Uysal, Founding Head of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department; Prof. M. Pınar Mengüç, Director of the Center for Energy, Environment, and Economy (EÇEM/CEEE) and Founding Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department; and Prof. Hüsnü Ata Erbay, Head of the Mathematical Engineering Department.

Election to the Science Academy requires significant contributions to the body of literature and the field of science. The evaluation of candidates’ work is based not only on quantitative measures but on a qualitative assessment of the impact and significance of their contributions.
