Mandatory SEC 202 and SEC 204 Courses

Dear students,

As we welcome you to the Fall 2024 semester, we would like to draw your attention to the mandatory SEC 202/SEC 204 courses which are redesigned and offered with a new name Responsible Citizenship and Impact, to capture the essence of the revision and the renewed focus of these courses.

This revision was a result of multi-year observations, feedback, and alternative design considerations for delivering the skills and abilities these courses purported to deliver (such as effective communication, teamwork, leadership, problem solving, etc.) more effectively via experiential learning - the hallmark of our Sectoral Education Program.

As such, the main goal of revised SEC 202 and SEC 204 is to help OzU students become better equipped with different skills as well as with a growing sense of civic identity and commitment through an opportunity to participate in community engagement activities of personal interest and public concern.

These courses remain to be one of your graduation requirements but are no longer prerequisites for your mandatory internships. We highly recommend you to take the Responsible Citizenship and Impact course in your second year so that you can benefit from it early on in your university experience and integrate its takeaways to your upper level courses, projects and internships.
