Our Rector Prof. Barış Tan Attended the TEMA Foundation Field Coordination Meeting to be Held on Our Campus for the 8th Time

Hosted by Özyeğin University since 2015, TEMA Foundation’s (The Turkish Foundation for Combating Soil Erosion, for Reforestation and the Protection of Natural Habitats) Field Coordination Meeting will take place at our Çekmeköy Campus between August 14-17, 2024, this year.

Themed “We Volunteer to Keep Alive to Live” (Yaşamak İçin Yaşatmaya Gönüllüyüz) this year and attended by a large team of approximately 400 people, including members of the Foundation’s Board of Directors, managers, employees, and provincial, district, and neighborhood officers who carry out the Foundation's activities on a voluntary basis, the meeting will focus on issues such as climate change, desertification, drought, soil, water, and volunteerism.

Özyeğin University President Prof. Barış Tan stated that they are happy to host the meeting for the 8 th year in a row. Prof. Tan said: “Sustainability and environmental issues are significant for our institution. While positioning Özyeğin University as a research university with a high global impact, we do not only consider the impact in terms of academic impact but also of economic and social impact. Accordingly, environmental issues and the environmental theme will be among our most important strategic goals in the next term. Creating this impact is possible through university studies and partnerships with civil society, industry, and the business world, in short, with all institutions. Collaboration with TEMA is also important for us. We will do our best to further increase this cooperation in the coming period.”
