Özyeğin University Faculty Member Prof. Dr. Hülya Turgut Named As a Jury Member at the International Urban Design Student Competition

Prof. Dr. Hülya Turgut, a faculty member at the Faculty of Architecture and Design at Özyeğin University and Director of the Urban and Housing Research Laboratory, has been selected as a jury member for the 2023 International Urban Design Student Competition organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), an intergovernmental regional organization operating since 2008. The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) brings together all countries of the European Union and 16 countries of the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean, including Turkey. The UfM aims to enhance regional cooperation and dialogue in the Mediterranean.

The competition themed “Urban Solutions to Climate Change in the Mediterranean” is organized in observance of the Mediterranean Day on November 28, which was announced by UfM to commemorate the Barcelona Process launched in 1995 to strengthen the relations between Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. The competition is open to all undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degree students from all countries affiliated with the Union. Students may register for the competition by August 31 and send their project proposals by September 27. The third place winner will receive the “Özyeğin University Award”. Among the sponsors of the competition are the European Union, Özyeğin University, Mies Van Der Rohe Foundation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.
